Hand Drawn Records announces vinyl record pressing service
HAND DRAWN PRESSING
North Texas indie label aims to help more artists take advantage of the ‘vinyl revival’ through simplified ordering process and bundled products
Hand Drawn Pressing is the manufacturing arm of Hand Drawn Records, and is focused exclusively on vinyl record pressing. Founded in 2014, the business simplifies the vinyl record ordering process, allowing musicians to focus on writing music and connecting with fans.
Hand Drawn Records, an independent record label representing many award-winning bands in North Texas, is pleased to announce the launch of Hand Drawn Pressing, a new service designed to make it easier for musicians and bands to order and sell vinyl records.
Demand for vinyl LPs has been on the rise since 2007, with US sales exceeding 9 million in 2014, a 49% jump from the prior year, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This “vinyl revival” provides musicians with a new way to connect with fans and generate revenues.
But along with this new opportunity comes risk. Lacking insight about the vinyl record manufacturing process, many musicians will lose valuable time and money trying to research all of the different variations of pricing and hidden costs associated with vinyl record manufacturing.
Hand Drawn Pressing aims to simplify this process by offering musicians pre-defined packages, each containing all the necessary components of a vinyl record album, says Dustin Blocker, the founder of Hand Drawn Records. “We want to encourage more artists to consider pressing vinyl, but without all the hassle,” Blocker says. “Musicians want to focus on playing their instruments and connecting with fans, not learning all the nuances of the vinyl record manufacturing process.”
Blocker developed the idea for Hand Drawn Pressing after his own agonizing experience trying to order vinyl records for his band. “It was a confusing process and took at least 20 hours of my time,” he says.
“We have taken the best possible combination of distinctive packaging and product and put them into clearly priced bundles with literally nothing hidden,” explains Blocker. “Our packages will provide artists with ground-breaking additions and premium quality as the standard, not the extra.”
