North Texas musicians come together to “Rock Out” cancer for one of their own
Hand Drawn Records is extremely proud to announce we will be returning to present Cancer Jam for a second-straight year, and this time it is a very personal affair, as our label’s co-founder Dustin Blocker’s mother, Linda Blocker has been diagnosed with stage four breast, lymphatic and bone cancer. All proceeds will be going to Linda in her time of need.

Last month, Linda Blocker received a tragic message from her doctor – test results indicated she was in stage four of breast, lymphatic and bone cancer. Blocker, age 67, received the diagnosis just a few months after losing her job and healthcare coverage at Radioshack. In addition to the physical challenges and emotional aspects of cancer, Blocker also faces the financial stress of finding the $40,000 to $60,000 needed to pay for cancer treatment without private insurance.

As a child I was raised with music all around me, and I believe the gifts I give to my children (her grandchildren) now through song, come directly from my mom. My overwhelming sense of positivity also comes from her. She is perhaps, the most incredibly positive, pay-it-forward soul you could ever meet.
Through music and family, my mom has always been the giver, and although I am extremely saddened by her diagnosis, I am equally enthused for her pending prognosis. I have always believed that you will get back what you have given. In the case of my mom, she is more than due to be the receiver.

CANCER JAM 2015
Cancer Jam will take place on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at the Courtyard Theater in Plano, TX. Tickets will go on sale on Aug. 14. General admission tickets are $12, and VIP tickets, which include food and drink, will be $40.
